“Microbial Production of Geosmin by Actinomycetes”

As actinomycetes are the micro-organisms responsible for the smell of rain and the soil smell “Geosmin”, I aimed to extract it. In this project, I learned how to: isolate the microbe, media preparation, culturing, product separation and purification, and how to analyse GC-MASS data.
