I am a veteran with almost 20 YOE designing and deploying enterprise-level applications. I am a strong advocate for the inclusion of UX and web accessibility best practices and I am well-versed in web applications.
I value simplicity over complexity, iteration over planning, collaboration over silos, and research over opinion. I am always looking for a position that challenges my abilities and will provide me with significant room to expand the breadth of my experience and knowledge.

As the company shifted direction, moving from a technology company to an IT company, and with the lack of existing technical guidance at the top level, I made it my goal to create a team that executive leadership could rely on to provide advice, strategy, and support regarding technology initiatives. As Director of Enterprise Architecture, I worked hand-in-hand with business leaders to:
As Principal Engineer, I mentored juniors, architected discreet systems, worked closely with business stakeholders, and supported operations across all engineering disciplines. I was primarily relied on to lead major initiatives, put out priority fires, and remove roadblocks for other team members, keeping projects on track and efficient.
As a technology consultant, I was regularly challenged to learn new things on every project. This allowed me to learn about how many businesses operated and what their technology needs were. I worked for notable Clients and partners, including Walmart, Macy's, IBM, and Papa Murphy's.
When MSNBC was still joint-owned by NBC and Microsoft, I was hired to completely re-design their election site. I was tasked with increasing performance and reducing downtime they had seen in years past. On election night 2012 the sight saw over 1 million views per hour with no downtime and no reported issues, down from hours of downtime and a multitude of issues in years past. The original code from this project remains the backbone of the current site today.
During this period of my career, people who worked on "web code" weren't considered engineers, and JavaScript was just a "toy." Looking to expand my knowledge and promote the adoption of accessibility and UX best practices, I shifted my role from backend/integration-level engineering to front-end engineering and UX.
Contributed to open-source projects, such as Drupal and Joomla, to add support for MSSQL and assist in the adoption of Windows support in the PHP core.

Led the architecture, planning, and execution of the company's Shopify migration from a previously proprietary e-commerce system, which was executed after six months of preparation. The project deployed with no interruption to the company's over 2 million subscriptions across four regions, saving the company millions YoY in operational and overhead costs.
Shopify and other adjacent vendors associated with the migration cited this as the most successful migration of a subscription provider, especially when considering the number of subscriptions migrated and TTL for execution, six months.
When MSNBC brought me on, they wanted to completely re-design their election site. They were also looking to increase performance and reduce downtime due to the traffic they receive on election night. On election night, we saw over 1 million views per hour with no downtime and no reported issues. To this day, almost all of the original UI code from this project remains the backbone of the current site.
