    Basa at Sulat | Offline AI Reading Assessment for Philippine IP Schools
    10/2026 – Present
  • • Built an offline desktop app (Electron + React + FastAPI) that checks a child's oral reading in any Philippine language. It flags misread, skipped and hesitated words, then reports words correct per minute and a reading level.
  • •Used Meta's MMS forced aligner (trained on 1,100+ languages) instead of speech recognition: the app lines up the child's audio with the known passage and scores each word by its worst-fitting letter.
  • •Used a local LLM (Ollama, qwen2.5:7b) to write reading-group lesson plans and draft stories. After a one-time setup, every feature runs fully offline, so children's voice recordings never leave the device.

  • •Architected a three-layer verification pipeline (Metadata Forensics, Spatial-Based AI, and Physics Verification) for deepfake detection, achieving 99.69% within-domain AUC-ROC and an 87.37% cross-domain AUC-ROC.
  • •Built a computer vision pipeline using an Xception backbone with Temporal Attention, training on 191,000+ facial crops extracted from 5,136 videos across FaceForensics++, HiDF, and WildDeepfake datasets.
  • •Engineered a scalable backend architecture with Redis and SQLite caching, asynchronous processing, and dynamic GPU batch allocation, supporting bounded video analysis workloads under strict latency constraints.
  • •Implemented Explainable AI using SHAP and Grad-CAM to generate interpretable forensic reports and visual evidence for end users.
