Hey, I'm Joel :), a web developer.

My programming and web development experience comes from self-directed learning based on The Odin Project Curriculum, Programming Lead for my high school's robotics club, and various personal web development projects

I'm also an incoming Denison University student with a full ride as a QuestBridge scholar.

Professional Experience
Programming Lead, East Ridge High School Robotics Club
  • I am the programming lead for my high school's robotics club in which we use Java.
  • I developed programmer soft skills from working with other teams such as translating programming into layman's terms for the other sub-teams (mechanical and electrical.) For instance, explaining what mechanisms would be possible from a programming perspective.
  • 08/2022 – present
  • The tight competition season gave me experience in coding under pressure and with deadlines. Moreover, I became adept at structuring code to accommodate the rapidly evolving robot design and multiple prototypes.
  • Projects
Waldo, The classic Where's Waldo books in glorious React form
  • Waldo consists of a selection screen with 3 maps to choose from, each map having three characters to find. It times you and gives you a final score at the end.
  • A Create React App Project utilizing Typescript and test-driven development with Jest
  • Florally Great, CRUD express app on a mongo database
  • A flower-themed Express app that implements CRUD operations using Mongoose
  • Sweet Memory, Create React App candy-themed memory game
  • Another Create React App Project which is a candy themed memory game.
  • WikiGiggles, Svelte project with the MediaWiki API
  • WikiGiggles provides a Svelte front-end to retrieve revisions of pages, using the MediaWiki API, which were immediately reverted. The idea being that these revisions consisted of humorous vandalism.
  • Tailwind was also used.
